Developing V, A and K Awareness Exercise
Groups of 2
Five minutes per person for each section (thirty minutes total)
A – The client
B – The programmer
• A chooses an object or person in the room, looks at it for a few seconds, then closes their eyes and imprints it in their mind.
• B asks A to keep the picture in their minds eye.
o Make the colors move / less vivid
o Change it to black and white, then back
o Make it brighter / darker, In and out of focus>
o See it nearer and further away
o Imagine a spotlight on the object making it stand out>
o See it from different angles (above, behind, below etc.)
• Debrief and rotate roles

• B makes a sound (fist hitting a chair, clicking their fingers etc.) then closes their eyes and imprints it in their mind.
• A (with eyes closed) imprints sound in their mind.
• B asks A to
o Hear the sound again
o Imagine it softer, louder, coming from different parts of the room, coming in one ear only, faster etc.
o Choose a favorite song
o Imagine it softer, louder, coming from different parts of the room, coming in one ear only, faster etc.
• Debrief and rotate roles
Kinaesthetic
• A chooses a place to sit comfortably and closes their eyes.
• B takes A through the following questions / statements.
o Become aware of your body without judgment
o Which parts are relaxed? Which parts are tenser?
o Where is your centre of balance?
o Feel the connections between all the parts of your body
o Feel where your body is touching other objects
o Be aware of the touch of your clothes on your skin
o Notice the temperature between your toes, back of knee, stomach, arms etc.
